Snow Quartz

I am filled with Divine purity and peace of mind.

Quartz which is cloudy and white, sometimes opaque, is called snow quartz or milky quartz. It is considered to be of lesser value to clear quartz, but I still love and collect it, because the pure white quality of the stone speaks to me. Clean and white, like untouched drifts of snow; perhaps the brown in the folds of the stone is the leaves or grass showing through in shallower areas of the cold, fluffy blanket. Humans have always seen pure white as a symbol of purity, innocence untouched by darkness, untrodden by dirty boots. White roses, given as a gift, symbolize friendship and good intentions. And, most notably, being dressed all in white, the way angels and God have been seen often, is a display of holiness.

"And in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire."

Revelation 1:13-14

"The one who conquers will be clothed thus in white garments, and I will never blot his name out of the book of life. I will confess his name before my Father and before his angels."

Revelation 3:5

Here we see that not only is God pure and dressed in white, but --(miracle of miracles!)-- His children and His chosen ones are purified as well. He is perfect, but purity is not our condition; the darkness of the world and of our own actions stains us a dark tone. But in the Father, and with the Spirit within us, His brilliant light drives away all darkness and fear from our souls. He treasures us as His children.

But now, even though we are made pure by our Father who loves us, we still live in a world of evil. We will be stained again and again, and this can be overwhelming to some believers. Too many who claim to live by God's name haven't been true Christians in years. This is why we are called by God to remain vigilant in our purity and faith, lest we fall back into darkness.

This may seem like a stressful path to walk, and it may be. But far more than the troubles of the world is the joy and peace that we can find in Him. How, though, can we keep from being stained by the darkness again?the answer is simpler than you might think: run to the Father. His grace is unending and His love is unconditional, and when you need shelter and a friend, God is the ultimate comforter, a guiding hand who is always there for you. Infuse His Word into yourself, reading it daily and treasuring the messages of love. Speak to God, praying your heart out in your brokenness, and He will heal you. Each time the world hurts you, He will purity you again, patiently tending to His beloved child.

"So put away all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation— if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. For it stands in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.” So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation."

1 Peter 2:1-12

When the Lord purifies us, we are made as we were like children, innocent and pure again. We are spiritually born again as His children, heirs of Heaven, and we are emotionally and mentally vulnerable. In order to grow in our faith and become a strong spiritual leader, we must depend on God's Word, our "milk," for all spiritual nourishment.

Spiritual milk is the words of God, and He tenderly feeds it to us when our faith is young so that we can grow strong in our faith. Our omnipotent and omnipresent Father watches over us and tends to us at all hours of the day. He is always there to comfort you. So, every time your heart is stricken with pain and mourning, come to Him for His purification and love.
