Blue Calcite

I am comforted and held by His love.

     Calcite is not a hard crystal- only 3 on the Mohs scale, in which diamonds are 10. It also easily dissolves in even the lightest acids, like vinegar, and when quartz geodes are filled in with calcite crystals prospectors will often soak them in acid until only quartz is left. Because it is common and soft, it is easy to aquire, and naturally comes in a variety of colors like yellow, orange, pink, green, golden brown (such as root beer and honey calcite), and of course, blue. Blue calcite is clouded pale blue and white, perhaps reminding you of a day with bright skies and fluffy clouds, or an angel's wings, or the light of a blue moon. As for me, I see all of these things; Creation mimics itself all around us.

"Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,

     Your faithfulness to the clouds.

Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;

     Your judgements are like the great deep;

     Man and beast you save, O Lord.

How precious is your steadfast love, O God!

     The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings.

They feast on the abundance of your house,

     And you give them drink from the river of your delights.

For with you is the fountain of life;

     In your light do we see light.

Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who know you,

     And your righteousness to the upright of heart!"

Psalm 36:5-10

     As we see here, the Lord loves us greatly, more than we could ever imagine. Those who treasure Him are held in His hands, safe from the world and from spiritual death. His Word tells us that those who put their trust in Him are wrapped up in the shelter of His wings for all eternity, even after out bodies die. The Lord loves us, and He will protect His people.

     "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written,

'For your sake we are being killed all the day long;

We are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.'

     No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor deapth, nor anything else in all Creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Romans 8:35-39
